Solar project developer Southern Current is investing $14 million in a new 10-megawatt facility in Hampton County.

Southern Current, based in Charleston, owns and develops utility-scale solar energy facilities across the Southeast, including a $16 million project in Marion County announced last October and a $28 million project in Orangeburg County announced in August 2018.

The solar company partnered with Lowcountry Regional Water System to commission a 1.4-megawatt solar farm in Hampton County in February 2018.

“Southern Current is excited to be working with Hampton County again,” Paul Fleury, Southern Current’s chief development officer, said in a news release. “The economic development team has been a strong supporter of solar energy, and we are proud to have another opportunity to invest in the county. With the help of Hampton County, South Carolina is becoming a leader in renewable energy.”
