Fort Jackson is inviting the community to an up-close tour of the U.S. Army’s main production center for basic training.

Visitors can watch a graduation ceremony, visit a barracks, ask questions about basic training and the Army, and eat lunch with soldiers during a five-hour Come Meet Your Army event on Feb. 13. The tour is open to people ages 13 and older, though youths ages 13-16 must be accompanied by an adult, according to a news release from Fort Jackson.

The tour begins at 9:15 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. Guests should arrive at Gate 4 no later than 9 a.m. with a valid identification card.

Guests should be prepared for indoor and outdoor activities which may include kneeling, lying on the floor and navigating uneven terrain. Long pants and closed-toe shoes are recommended. The cost for lunch is $5.65 per person, and the facility only accepts cash.

Registration is available online and required by Feb. 11 at noon. More information is available by calling 803-751-1474.
