Two primary care approaches to health care share a building at 1 E. Stone Ave. in Greenville. (Photo/Prisma Health)A new primary care practice by Prisma Health will house the health system’s first direct primary care office, a new business-to-business option in which employers pay a flat monthly rate or annual fee that offers their employees comprehensive primary care, including a range of medications and lab tests, without additional fees or co-pays.

Prisma Health Primary Care-Stone & Main is open at 1 E. Stone Ave. in Greenville as Prisma Health’s newest primary care practice, according to a news release from the health system.

“This new program is a great option for patients because typical out-of-pocket costs are removed to ease access to care,” Kris Leo, director of clinical products and operations for Prisma Health, said in the release. “We believe participants will be more likely to seek care early when they can make preventive changes — hopefully, before a health crisis ever develops.”

The new service will be available to employer groups, similar to subscription plans, covering a full suite of occupational health services and options to cover employees, spouses and dependents.

Prisma Health itself will be the first employer to sign up for the program through a new pilot program.

We’re excited to offer it to our team members,” Leo said.

The program will expand to additional Upstate businesses as early as spring 2023 and expand into the Midlands market in the summer.

Services provided at this location include: acute illnesses and management of chronic diseases; physicals, including annual checkups and sports physicals; gynecologic care; preventive care; flu shots and immunizations; and ultrasound and electrocardiograms (EKGs).

Families are already receiving care at Prisma Health Primary Care-Stone & Main, and a pharmacy is expected to open in the 7,600-square-foot building later this year.

“We are deeply committed to quality care for the entire family and bringing this new practice into the downtown Greenville community provides an easily accessible location,” said Dr. William “Walt” Roberts, lead physician at Prisma Health Primary Care – Stone & Main.
