On the Menu provides the latest news from the Charleston area’s culinary community, including new restaurants, new menu items and upcoming events, as well as details about local chefs. ATTENTION: Submissions should now be made using our online form.

Taste of North Charleston is scheduled for 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 19 at the ExQuis Event and Conference Center at 5101 Ashley Phosphate Road. Several North Charleston restaurants will provide samples from their menu.

Admission is $15 in advance and $20 at the gate. A portion of the proceeds will benefit three nonprofits and local charities. Remaining proceeds will cover event expenses, future marketing, advertising and events focused around growth and awareness of Taste of North Charleston, its supporters and business within the city of North Charleston, according to a news release.

Tattooed Moose is holding a grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new West Ashley location from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The new location, the restaurant’s third, is in the Citadel Mall.

The restaurant will serve the same menu as the downtown Charleston and Johns Island locations, and it will have a game room in the mezzanine area, a space for private parties, a patio, Saturday and Sunday brunch, and live music.

The grand opening will include networking with the Southeastern Chamber of Commerce.
