Regional brewery aids S.C. restaurant association

Highland Brewery may be based in Asheville, but the company’s flagship amber Gaelic Ale can be found on shelves in five states across the Southeast.

And as leisure and hospitality unemployment rates exceed the national rate for all industry by 3.6%, the brewery hopes to leave a charitable imprint across its market, according to a news release.

Along with six other hospitality nonprofits, the S.C. Restaurant and Lodging Association will receive a portion of proceeds from sales of Highland Brewing’s Gaelic Ale line as part of the “Give Back with Gaelic” campaign.

The campaign, started last year, will run through the end of 2021, according to the release.

“We have first-hand experience navigating pandemic-related hospitality challenges in both of our taprooms,” Leah Ashburn, Highland Brewery’s owner and president, said in the news release. “However, with customers’ purchases from across our footprint and the support from our wholesale partners, we have the ability to repeat this giving program. Highland will continue to do whatever we can to help pay it forward to so many of our own who still need support during this long road to recovery.”

With additional matching contributions from the brewery’s distribution partners, the program is expected to raise more than last year’s $25,000, according to the release.

Highland’s beers are distributed in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee and Georgia.
