Electrolux North America plans to shut down its freezer manufacturing plant in St. Cloud, Minn. in 2019 and move the production to its plant in Anderson, at 101 Masters Blvd.

Eloise Hale, company spokeswoman, did not say if the move would add to the number of jobs at the Anderson plant, just that the move was about “modernizing and expanding the Anderson plant, and not about job growth.”

In May 2017, Electrolux announced expansion plans totaling more than $200 million. The expansion calls for adding 800,000 square feet for manufacturing capacity and warehousing. Construction is expected to be complete in 2019. In that announcement, Electrolux said the expansion “will modernize its facility and create the opportunity to expand production.”

When asked if last year’s expansion announcement was in anticipation of moving the freezer production to Anderson, Hale said the two are not related. She said the decision to close the plant in St. Cloud was made this week.
