Spartanburg Community College will hold information sessions for the Michelin Manufacturing Scholars program on Jan. 8-9, 2019, at the central campus in Spartanburg. The sessions are for anyone interested in a new job or a career change in the manufacturing industry, according to a news release.

Applications are now being accepted for the program and for classes that begin in spring 2019. Session information is available online.

The scholars program is a partnership between Spartanburg Community College and Michelin North America and offers learning and earning opportunities for individuals interested in hands-on training, technical certification from the college and a potential manufacturing career with Michelin.

Participating students will earn a college credential and receive hands-on training through paid part-time work at the Michelin Spartanburg manufacturing plant throughout the semester. Tuition, books and fees are covered. Individuals successfully completing the program may be considered for an offer of full-time employment with Michelin, the release said.

To apply for the program, prospective students must attend an introductory session and complete all required paperwork by Jan. 11, 2019.

During the information sessions, attendees will learn about the program, complete an application for Spartanburg Community College and complete an application for employment with Michelin.
