Truist Financial Corp. has named Alex Brame regional president for South Carolina effective Oct. 1.

Brame currently serves as Truist’s regional president for Central Pennsylvania and will replace Michael Brenan who previously announced his retirement from Truist, according to a news release.

“It’s been such a pleasure serving as regional president of Central Pennsylvania over these last five years, and I could not be more excited for this new role ahead of me,” Brame said in the release. “Throughout his career, Mike has truly led by example and viewed banking through a client- and community-focused lens and it will be an honor to follow in his footsteps and serve South Carolina.”

Brame has more than 17 years of banking and leadership experience with Truist and will direct client management and business development activities, as well as integrate Truist lines of business in South Carolina to benefit the company’s clients and the communities it serves. He previously served as market president of Lancaster and Lebanon counties in Pennsylvania, market president of the Virginia peninsula and as a relationship manager in Newport News, Va.

“Alex is a strategic leader with significant industry knowledge and tremendous dedication to providing exceptional local client care, which will serve to further our commitment in the South Carolina region,” said Tony Coley, group regional president for Truist. “Through Alex’s leadership, Truist’s South Carolina teammates will advise businesses through all stages of growth, helping them achieve their goals and deliver on our purpose to inspire and build better lives and communities.”

Brame holds a bachelor’s of science in financial management from Clemson University. He is also a graduate of the American Bankers Association School of Banking at the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania.

He currently services as chair-elect of the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce in Pennsylvania and the Penn State University-Harrisburg Board of Advisers. Previously, he served as a member of the Lancaster City Alliance Economic Development Steering Committee and as a board member of United Way of Lancaster County, Community Free Clinic of Newport News, Smart Beginnings of the Virginia Peninsula and Peninsula Council for Workforce Development.
