“Fill the Cruisers” drive hosted at Bon Secours arena
The Greenville Police Department, Bon Secours Wellness Arena and Project Host, a local food security and job training nonprofit, will hold a food drive Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the arena on 650 N. Academy St.
Items needed to fill the cruisers include chicken, vegetable and beef stock, canned chicken, fruit cups, Nutty Buddy bars, diced tomatoes, pudding cups, granola bars, individual-sized bags of chips, bottles of juice (apple, grape, orange) and plastic spoons, according to a news release.
BMW Pro-Am raises funds for five charities
A posse of Korn Ferry Tour golfers and 24 of their celebrity team members descended on Greenville’s Thornblade Club and Spartanburg's Carolina Country Club green last weekend for the BMW Pro-Am tournament.
Alabama-native Robby Shelton won the four-day tournament in a playoff after posting a 263, with Ben Griffin, who also shot 263, close behind, according to a news release.
Funds raised during the tournament will benefit Mobile Meals of Spartanburg, Roper Mountain Science Center, Cancer Society of Greenville County, Meyer Center for Special Children and Gibbs Cancer Center and Research Institute.
Upstate company raises $100K for heart association
Regional Management Corp., the presenting sponsor for the American Heart Association Upstate Heart Walk, raised more than $100,000 for the nonprofit through its community outreach initiative, Regional Reach.
Close to 400 walkers from across the loan provider’s 300 branches in 14 states participated in the event, held last month. Over the years, the company has raised more than a quarter of a million dollars for the American Heart Association.
“Our team is incredibly grateful for the continued support we’ve seen year after year from Regional Management,” Margaret Stegall, director of development for the Upstate AHA, said in a news release. “We are able to fund our life-saving mission to end heart disease and stroke and continue meeting critical needs right here in the Upstate, thanks to the company’s generosity and dedicated team members that support this cause.”
The company’s community outreach program, Regional Reach, also partners with Harvest Hope, Meals on Wheels, and Hope Center for Children.
