Ashley Oaks Plaza has seen some changes over the last few years with an updated façade, improved infrastructure and the introduction of almost all new tenants.

Now ownership is changing hands, too.

Ziff Real Estate Partners has acquired the shopping center at the corner of Wappoo and Ashley River roads for $12.75 million, the company said.

In the past few years, the shopping center has bid adieu to main tenants in the Department of Motor Vehicles and Attic Mall & Auction, and gained a True Value Hardware and O2 Fitness as co-anchors of the 1119 Wappoo Road property. O2 occupies the bulk of the property with its 27,500 square foot gym.

Other additions to the center include Los Reyes Mexican restaurant, National Karate MMA, Lavish Nail Spa, King’s Sushi and a State Farm branch.

Daily, the shopping center sees 34,000 vehicles.

Since 1991, Ziff has been invested in retail properties throughout the tri-county. Key holdings include the Cigar Factory on Charleston’s peninsula, Bridgeport Center in Mount Pleasant and Crossroads Shopping Center at the corner of S.C. Highway 61 and Sam Rittenberg.
