Charleston-based BoomTown, a software platform that provides leads and marketing for real estate professionals, has acquired Irvine, Calif.-based Real Contact for an undisclosed sum.

This is the Charleston tech firm’s first acquisition.

Real Contact is also a real estate leads service, and it follows up on leads through an app. The service’s employees respond to text inquiries on behalf of the real estate agent, with a focus on speed of reply: The service responds within 90 seconds, 24/7, according to a news release.

Boomtown plans to leverage the service for its real estate agent users to increase their sales, according to the release.

“Our data shows that only 23% of listing inquiries are followed up with in the first hour, and less than half of these inquiries come in during business hours,” BoomTown President and CEO Grier Allen said in the release. “Responsiveness and speed-to-lead are real pain points in our industry, and we’re very excited to offer Real Contact’s initial response and nurturing capabilities to help agents and teams receive action-ready leads, while ensuring every new inquiry is receiving exceptional and timely service.”

BoomTown, founded in 2006, operates its headquarters at the Pacific Box and Crate space on the Upper Peninsula in Charleston. The 270-person company also has offices in Atlanta and San Francisco.
