Richland County is getting a new wildlife management area and youth hunting area.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Wednesday at the Love Farm Wildlife Management Area and Nat Love Youth Special Hunt Area, near the Wateree Wildlife Management Area in Eastover. The 782-acre property will include a public dove hunting field, youth hunts and additional waterfowl hunt opportunities, according to a news release from the S.C. Department of Natural Resources.

The wildlife management and hunt area received federal funding from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Wildlife Restoration Program, the U.S. Department of Defense’s Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration Program and the S.C. National Wildlife Turkey Federation, as well as state funding.

The ribbon cutting will begin at 10 a.m. at 1900 Vanboklen Road.
