South Carolina Research Authority accepts new member companies in Charleston, Greenville

The South Carolina Research Authority accepted two new companies for membership and approved grant funding for another.

Members HQ Inc. of Charleston and Supermoon of Greenville are the new members, while Charleston’s PeriopHealth will take advantage of the organization’s Acceleration Grant, according to a news release from SCRA.

SCRA was chartered to fuel the state’s innovation economy through the impact of its comprehensive services to technology-based startups, academia and industry.

The organization last accepted new members in September when BagValet, FRD Accel and Health Evolve Technologies were accepted as SCRA Member Companies.

All SCRA Member Companies receive coaching, access to experts in SCRA’s Resource Partner Network, eligibility to apply for grant funding, and the potential to be considered for investment from SCRA’s investment affiliate, SC Launch Inc.

Members HQ Inc. is a Charleston-based information technology company has developed a health plan member engagement platform called Benefits Hero. Benefits Hero enables administrators to drive better plan outcomes through its personalized and simple-to-use platform, the news release said.

SuperMoon Inc. is a Greenville-based information technology company developing an AI-driven customer relationship management tool designed to be an advanced automated solution that makes it easy for small businesses to manage their customer relationships and communication, the release said.

PeriopHealth LLC received a $50,000 Acceleration Grant. The startup offers a surgical instrument management solution that creates a real-time perpetual inventory, reduces waste and helps optimize instrument workflows and quality in sterile environments, the release stated.

Grant funding is made possible, in part, by Industry Partnership Fund contributions. Contributors to the IPF receive a dollar-for-dollar state tax credit, making it an easy and effective way to help one of the fast-growing segments of the South Carolina economy. The organization says grant funding for member companies creates a direct, positive economic effect and job creation.

SCRA provides funding and support to accelerate the growth of academic startups; high-quality lab and administrative workspaces; facilitation and funding for partnerships between and among industry, startups, and academic institutions; assistance and funding for the relocation of technology-based companies to South Carolina; and coaching and funding for startups that may also receive investments from its affiliate, SC Launch Inc.
