A Greenville-based general contractor is marking a milestone in the company’s growth by expanding with a new office in Charleston.

Harper General Contractors has been in the construction industry for 73 years with offices in Spartanburg, Conway and Charlotte. The launch of the Charleston office coincides with last year’s promotion and relocation of Anthony Taylor, Harper’s coastal office director and senior project manager, within the Environmental Systems Division, according to a news release.

Since relocating key personnel to the area, Harper has worked on notable projects with key partners in the area, including the city of Charleston, city of Walterboro, Mount Pleasant Water Works and Summerville CPW, the release said. In Greenville, Harper also has been part of pivotal projects in downtown Greenville — the United Community Bank headquarters and the Reedy River Wetlands Preserve, a new feature at Unity Park focused on the restoration of wetlands that reveals the Reedy River’s natural course.

“We have had the opportunity to work with amazing clients on unique and challenging projects in the Charleston area,” said Taylor. “We are excited about the work we have coming down the pipeline and the opportunity to intentionally grow in order to continue to fit the needs of our local client base. Our focus now is expanding our talent base to fit that need.”

The company said in the news release that it plans to make a positive impact on the Charleston community with the company’s expansion and Taylor’s leadership by building up coastal communities while upholding its 73-year legacy in construction.

In addition to its headquarters at 35 W. Court St. in Greenville, Harper has offices on E. Main Street in Spartanburg, Norman Alley in Conway, S. Tryon Street in Charlotte and College Street in Asheville. The company concentrates in construction, office, industrial, municipal, health care and environmental systems.
